Couples therapy sessions are 50 minutes or 75 minutes and are typically scheduled bi-weekly but frequency can be determined together based on presenting needs.
At Sparrow Counselling & Consulting, couples therapy begins with an intake process to learn about the strengths and concerns in your relationship. Your therapist will spend time with you as a couple and individually through a series of intake sessions to gather information that will help inform the direction and best approach. Your therapist will then create a flexible but detailed plan that leans on your relationship strengths, while addressing the areas of struggle to move towards flourishing.
It's typical to have one person in the relationship see value in accessing professional support while the other feels differently. One (or both) of you may feel that "it's not that bad" or "it's so bad - beyond repair and I give up."
Occasionally, both partners see value in couples therapy but more regularly, there is only one - and this is what your therapist will be expecting. Not to worry if you find your relationship in this position, at Sparrow Counselling & Consulting, we are ready for both of you!
At Sparrow Counselling & Consulting, we set aside time especially with you in mind, and that time is protected and held just for you. If you are unable to attend a scheduled session, we kindly ask that you give 48 hour advance notice. No-shows and late cancels are charged at the session rate.
Both! At Sparrow Counselling & Consulting we are equipped to provide support in person at our welcoming and comfortable office, or remotely using a secure virtual platform.
It's a personal preference how your sessions are conducted and whether we connect in person or virtually, the commitment to providing high quality relationship support remains equal.
